Career Connections
The following careers use skills and concepts that you practiced in this Unit. Choose one of these careers and complete an activity from the Choice Board.
Bomb Disposal Robot Operator
These specialists operate remote-controlled robots designed to safely handle and neutralize explosive devices, protecting human operators from danger. These robots often have intakes or gripping mechanisms to handle dangerous materials and are operated at a distance using sophisticated remote controllers, similarly to how you controlled the CatapultBot using the Controller for the Bucky Basketball competition.
Warehouse Robotics Engineer
This role focuses on designing and maintaining robots that are used in large warehouses and distribution centers to pick, place, and transport items. Many of these robots use intake mechanisms to grasp items, and while some may operate autonomously, others might be guided using remote controllers, especially in complex tasks. Many of the skills you practiced with your team as you prepared for the Bucky Basketball competition are put to use by engineers around the world.
