Choice Board Examples & Strategies

Use the Choice Board to allow students to display their voice and choice within their learning. The Choice Board can be used in multiple ways by the teacher to:

  • Engage students who finish early
  • Assess what students have learned at different points throughout the Unit
  • Extend the Unit or lesson
  • Allow students to display their learning in the Share section

The Choice Board is intended to provide content that can be added to the classroom’s existing Choice Board or to any bulletin board in the classroom.

Choice Board
First Version Robotic Arms
Do a deep dive into the history of robotic arms. What is the oldest kind of robotic arm you can find when researching?
Why was it made?
Write down why you think the electromagnet was invented. Then, research to see if your idea is correct.
Conditional Story
Write a short story where the reader gets to choose a path and the story changes based on what the reader chooses.
Robot Arm Brainstorm
How many different tasks do you think the Robot Arm could do? Write a list in 90 seconds.
Arm Advertisement
Design a poster advertising the Robot Arm and why it is useful.
Arm Add On
Design one change or add-on for the Robot Arm that you think would make it more useful.
Human vs. Robot
Who would sort better - a Human or a Robot Arm? Write a persuasive paragraph explaining your answer.
Imagination Station
What would you mechanize to help you with your chores? Design a mechanism to help you.
Song and Dance
Write a song about the Robot Arm, and some arm dance moves to go with it.
