Getting Ready
Getting Ready to Test and Play
Before beginning any Lessons in this Unit, you will need to check that your Battery and Controller are charged.
Check Battery Levels
In this animation, first insert a battery into an IQ brain. Then press the checkmark to power on the IQ brain. The IQ brain shows a “low battery” warning message. Then hit the x button to dismiss the warning message.
Your Battery level can also be checked by using the indicator lights on the side of the Battery. In this animation, when you pressed the power button on the Battery pack, it shows only one green light on the indicator lights.
Use the following list to understand how much percentage of the charge the Battery gets.
- 1 light: 0-25% charge
- 2 lights: 25-50% charge
- 3 lights: 50-75% charge
- 4 lights: 75-100% charge
Charge Battery
In this animation, turn the IQ Battery to the side with a USB-C port. Then plug in the USB-C charging cable. The indicator lights should be blinking to indicate the charging status.
- Once you know you have a charged battery, insert the Battery into the Brain.
Charge Controller
You will also need to make sure that your Controller is charged.
In this video, it shows how you can plug a USB-C cable into the back of the VEX IQ Controller's USB-C port. Then the charging indicator light will light up.
Pair the Controller and Brain
After you have charged your Battery and Controller, you can now wirelessly pair your Brain to the Controller.
In this video, the right arrow key is pressed four times to navigate to the Settings page, then the checkmark is pressed to open the page. Next, the right arrow key is selected twice, followed by the checkmark to enter the Link page. At this point, the indicator light on the Brain is yellow. Then, a hand holds the two back buttons on the Controller and double-presses the power button on the Controller to enter pairing mode. After a few seconds, the Controller shows a green light, and the Brain automatically exits the link screen and displays a green blinking light indicating the pairing process is complete.
