Getting Ready to Test and Compete

Before beginning any Lessons in this Unit, you will need to check that your Battery is charged.

Check Battery Levels

Watch this animation and follow along to check your Battery's charge. If you have a low Battery, follow the steps below to charge it.

In the animation, the Battery is first inserted into the Brain. Then the Check button is pressed. The Brain's screen shows a “Low Battery” message. The ‘X’ button is pressed to return to the Home Screen.

Your Battery level can also be checked by using the indicator lights on the side of the Battery. Watch the following animation to see how to check the Battery level using the indicator lights.

In the video, a finger presses the button to the left of the four indicator lights on the Battery, and the first light glows green.

  • 1 light: 0-25% charge
  • 2 lights: 25-50% charge
  • 3 lights: 50-75% charge
  • 4 lights: 75-100% charge

Charge Battery

View this animation to learn how to charge your Battery.

In the video, a USB-C Cable is plugged into the USB-C port on the Battery. The first green indicator light glows steadily, and the second green indicator light flashes, to show the Battery is charging.

Once you know you have a charged Battery, insert the Battery into the Brain.

Charge Controller

You will also need to make sure that your Controller is charged.

In the animation, a USB-C cord is plugged into the USB-C port on the back of the Controller.

Pair the Controller and Brain

After you have charged your Battery and Controller, you can now wirelessly pair your Brain to the Controller. View this animation to see how to pair your Controller and Brain. 

In this video, the right arrow key is pressed three times to navigate to the Settings page, then the checkmark is pressed to open the page. Next, the right arrow key is pressed once, followed by the checkmark to enter the Link page. At this point, the indicator light on the Brain is yellow. Then, a hand holds the two back buttons on the Controller and double-presses the power button on the Controller to enter pairing mode. After a few seconds, the Controller shows a green light, and the Brain automatically exits the link screen and displays a green blinking light indicating the pairing process is complete.
