Choice Board Examples & Strategies
Use the Choice Board to allow students to display their voice and choice within their learning. The Choice Board can be used in multiple ways by the teacher to:
- Engage students who finish early
- Assess what students have learned at different points throughout the Unit
- Extend the Unit or lesson
- Allow students to display their learning in the Share section
The Choice Board is intended to provide content that can be added to the classroom’s existing Choice Board or to any bulletin board in the classroom.

Spring Away Create another build that would run on the power of a spring like the one in the Spring Car |
Safety First Since the Astronaut wants to ride on the Spring Car, build a roll cage around him to keep him safe. A roll cage is a structure that protects a rider if the car flips over. |
Mark It! Create four small builds that can be used as markers. Launch the Spring Car four times marking where it stopped. How does each run compare? Do you see a pattern? |

Stick to Your Lane Use the beams in the kit to make a lanemarking a path for the Spring Car.Make sure the lane starts at the front edge of the car. Use the holes in the beams to measure how far the Spring Car travels when it is launched. |
Modify Misfire Think about a time when you tried to improve something and the changes you made did not solve the problem. What did you learn from the experience? |
Target Practice Build targets that you can place in front of the Spring car at various distances. Try to kiy then as you launch the car. |

Improve It! If you wanted to modify the Spring Car to travel faster, what would you change? Try different modifications to see what happens. |
Center It! Add weight to either the front or back of the Spring Car using VEX GO peces. How does changing the Center of Gravity affect how it moves when launched. |
Push It! Create a wagon or cart that you can push with the Spring Car, Place the cart in front of the Spring Car and have it push the cart after it is launched, Add the Disks to the wagon to see how additional weight changes how far it can be pushed. |
