Choice Board Examples & Strategies
Use the Choice Board to allow students to display their voice and choice within their learning. The Choice Board can be used in multiple ways by the teacher to:
- Engage students who finish early
- Assess what students have learned at different points throughout the Unit
- Extend the Unit or lesson
- Allow students to display their learning in the Share section
The Choice Board is intended to provide content that can be added to the classroom’s existing Choice Board or to any bulletin board in the classroom.

Vocabulary Word Mosaic Apply vocabulary words to each lesson with pictures, and words. |
Coordinate Plane Art Create art by marking points on a coordinate plane with VEX GO pieces. Can you make a constellation? How about a smiley face? |
Starry Night Write and draw a story about how your constellation or picture on your coordinate plane. |
Coordinate Plane Invention Craft an invention that you can make out of your VEX GO coordinate plane. |
Create a New Game Develop a new game using the coordinate plane board, pins and other pieces. Describe the process in steps on paper for someone to recreate with game directions and a picture. |
Treasure Map Turn your Battle Boat game into a treasure map. Create using pins and other VEX GO pieces from start to finish to reveal a hidden treasure at the end of the map. |
Letter to Space Create a star pattern using pins. Write a letter to an astronomer asking him or her if there are any constellations that look like yours. |
Math Letter Write a letter to a mathematician asking him or her how we can use coordinate planes and the commutative property in real life. Think of suggestions to include as well. |
