Diagram indicating how to use a beam to help slide a 12T gear onto a shaft. To the left, a hand is placing a 12T gear onto a shaft unsuccessfully. To the right, a 12T gear is placed on a shaft, and a 1x10 beam is slid over the beam as well. The hand presses down on the beam, sliding the 12T gear down the shaft.

Use a Beam for Leverage

You can use a 1x Beam for extra leverage to push small VEX IQ parts along shafts. Place the beam directly behind the small object and push on the beam to slide the object. This technique can also be used to slide parts onto or off of shafts.
