Introduction

Teacher Toolbox icon Teacher Toolbox - Introduction to the Lab

What the Teacher Will Do:

  • Tell students to get into their groups with their assigned Workcells.
  • Once students are in their groups, summarize the Lab and explain that it will be a competition using all of the skills they have practiced and learned in the previous Labs and Workcell Extensions.
  • Answer any questions the students may have.

For more information on how to introduce the Lab, go to the V5 Workcell Educator Certification.

In Lab 13: Capstone Project, you will be designing and constructing a Workcell for a sort and stack competition. While every Workcell must have the same Start and End Zones, you will be able to build your Workcell to your desired specifications for the remainder of the system. You will be guided through different considerations while planning for the competition including how to move the arm to different locations on the Workcell and how the coordinate system changes with a moved arm. After you have explored these concepts, you will use all of the skills developed in Labs 1-12 and the Workcell Extensions to compete in the Capstone Project Competition!

Lab 13 build with disks

The goal of this competition is to move 36 disks from the Start Zone to the colored End Zones in the fastest possible time. The team with the most points wins!
