Remix Your Project
Teacher Tips
The students can refer to the tutorials if they run into any problems creating, renaming and saving a project. Walk around and monitor the students to ensure they complete all the steps.
The Programmer should complete the following steps:
- Open the File menu.
- Select Open Examples.
- Select and open the Autopilot (Drivetrain) Template.
- Name your project Drive Remix.
- Save your project.
Let’s get moving!
Activity A: Move 10 Inches!
-
Programmer, use the [Drive for] block to program Autopilot to move forward 10 inches.
- Download the project.
- Operator, run the project on Autopilot.
- Does the robot move forward 10 inches?
Bonus Challenge: Add a sound after Autopilot moves 10 inches! In the engineering notebook, the Recorder can write down what block the group thinks would allow the robot to perform this action.
Teacher Toolbox - Students' Remix Roles
Students should be working in their groups with their individual roles.
-
The Builder should be making sure the robot is prepared to run the project.
-
The Programmer should be making the changes as directed.
-
The Operator should be running new programs on the Autopilot.
-
The Recorder should be documenting the process and test results in their engineering notebooks.
Have the students check in when they have completed this activity and either display their code or run the project(s).
