Active Share
Have each group share the story that they created. Then, have them explain which emotion code they used, and why they felt that matched the character’s feeling. Students should then share their projects for the class using the 123 Robot.
- Encourage students to think about whether they would share that feeling if they were in the character’s situation, by asking if they agree or disagree with the group’s choice of emotion code, and why.
Discussion Prompts
Digital Documentation
- Take photos or short videos of students sharing their stories and explanations about their emotion code choices. Share these with your classroom community to show students’ social-emotional thinking.
Student-Driven Visible Thinking
- Save students’ written or drawn stories with the emotion code they chose. You can add these to your classroom library for students to use later.
Metacognition-Reflecting Together
- Are there any other feelings the character in your story could have had? What makes you say that?
- How did your group work together to make your story? Did everyone in the group have the same feelings about it? How did you decide on an emotion code together?
- Could your same code be used to express a different emotion? Why or why not?
